I was born and raised in southeastern New Mexico and have always been a native of the Southwest. I have been involved in many creative endeavors throughout my life, including building artificial boulders integrated into the landscape plans for two of my homes in Arizona and was part owner in an interior design firm. I have worked as a new product designer in the stone and tile industry, developing one-of-a-kind products for residential and commercial installations. This led to designing trade show booths and display systems for the sale of tile and stone products and I have painted a number of murals on natural stone.
After a move to Arizona in 1980, I began to taking art related classes, first at Mesa Community College, then Scottsdale Community College, Glendale Community College, and Scottsdale Artist School. I joined the Arizona Watercolor Association and the New Mexico Watercolor Society in mid-2011. I am actively engaged in showing in exhibits sponsored by select organizations, as well as other opportunities to show and sell my work.
I take my inspiration from what I see in everyday life. I am a flower photographing fool; my camera is always with me. I take what I see and add my own creative flavor to make a subject, in my mind, more interesting, more fun, more vibrant, more joyful. It is my intent as an artist to bring the same joy to others that I get from painting.
Because I just started to show and sell my work towards the end of 2010 and joined professional watercolor organizations in mid-2011, these are the venues where my work has been shown. Some of these events carry more weight than others but at this time, they are all important to me.
